Cruise Passengers with Mobility Needs
Updated 3 min read
A cruise transfer with mobility needs involves three separate handovers that all need to line up: airport assistance from the gate to arrivals, the ride itself, and assistance again at the cruise terminal. Each is arranged with a different organisation, and the part that actually connects them — getting from wherever airport assistance leaves you to a car, and from the car to terminal assistance — is worth planning specifically rather than assuming it sorts itself out.

Airport assistance, arranged with your airline
Assistance from the gate through to arrivals is arranged through your airline, usually requested in advance when you book your flight or shortly after. That request is separate from your transfer booking — we don't control or coordinate directly with the airport's assistance service, so it needs to be arranged on the airline side as its own step.
Telling us what you need for the car and pickup
When you book your transfer, use the notes field to describe your mobility needs as specifically as you can — whether you use a wheelchair, need help getting in and out of the vehicle, or are travelling with a mobility aid that needs space. We confirm what we can arrange before pickup, so there are no surprises about the vehicle itself once you're at the pickup point.
Meeting point matters here too: airport assistance often brings passengers to a specific area rather than the general arrivals hall, so mention where you expect to be met so the pickup can be coordinated to that spot rather than a generic one.
Terminal assistance at the ship
Cruise terminals generally offer their own assistance for boarding, separate from both the airport and the transfer — this is usually arranged with the cruise line ahead of sailing, the same way airport assistance is arranged with the airline. Let your driver know at drop-off if you need help connecting with the terminal's assistance service, so the handover at that end goes as smoothly as the one at the airport did.
Building in time for all three handovers
Each handover — assistance to car, car to terminal assistance — takes a bit longer than a standard transfer, and it's worth planning your morning with that in mind rather than assuming the timings from a typical cruise transfer apply directly. The free waiting time on your pickup gives some margin if any one step runs longer than expected, but a generous overall plan beats relying on that margin.

Questions people ask before booking
Do you arrange airport assistance for me?
No — that's arranged directly with your airline, usually when you book your flight. Our transfer connects with it, but the request itself is a separate step on the airline's side.
How do I tell you about my mobility needs?
Use the notes field when booking to describe what you need as specifically as possible — we confirm what can be arranged before pickup.
Can the driver meet me at a specific assistance point rather than general arrivals?
Mention where airport assistance is likely to bring you, and we coordinate the pickup to that point where we can.
Do cruise terminals offer their own assistance for boarding?
Generally yes, arranged with the cruise line ahead of sailing — let your driver know at drop-off if you need help connecting to it.
Should I build in extra time for a transfer with mobility needs?
Yes — each handover takes a bit longer than a standard transfer, so a generous overall plan is worth more than relying on the free waiting time alone.
