Your Ferry Is Late: Keeping the Pickup at the Terminal
Updated 3 min read
A booked pickup that tracks your flight is one of the more reassuring parts of arranging airport transport — but ferries don't work the same way. There's no live ferry-tracking feed behind a booking the way there is with flight data, so if your ferry runs late, the system doesn't know that automatically. You do, and telling us is what keeps the pickup working.

Why ferry timing works differently from flight timing
Flight tracking exists because live arrival data is published and can be watched automatically, adjusting your pickup to your actual landing without you needing to do anything. Ferries don't have an equivalent public feed we can plug into, so a ferry booking's pickup time is set against the sailing's stated arrival time — which is often accurate, but not guaranteed the way a tracked flight's adjusted pickup is.
What the waiting time still covers
The free waiting on every pickup, counted from when your driver confirms arrival, still applies to a ferry booking the same as any other — it's just not extended automatically by a delay the way flight tracking would handle it. If your ferry is running only a little late, the waiting window likely still covers you without any action needed.
What to do if the delay is more than minor
As soon as you know your ferry is meaningfully delayed, message or call your driver on the number you were sent — that's the mechanism that keeps the pickup matched to reality when there's no automatic tracking behind it. The earlier you flag it, the more flexibly we can adjust; a message sent well before your original pickup time is far more useful than one sent after you're already past it.
Booking with the delay risk in mind
If your ferry route has a history of running behind schedule, it's worth booking your pickup time with a little built-in margin from the start, rather than the earliest theoretically possible time — and keeping your phone charged and reachable is genuinely useful advice here, since a quick message is what keeps everything on track without you needing to stand and wait at an empty terminal wondering if the car is still coming.

Questions people ask before booking
Does my pickup adjust automatically if my ferry is late?
No — unlike flight tracking, there's no live ferry data behind the booking. Message or call your driver directly if your ferry is running late.
Does the free waiting time still apply to a ferry pickup?
Yes — the same free waiting from when your driver confirms arrival applies, it just isn't extended automatically by a ferry delay the way a tracked flight's pickup would be.
How should I contact my driver about a delay?
Use the phone number sent to you before pickup — message or call as soon as you know the ferry is running behind, the earlier the better.
Should I book extra margin if my ferry route is often late?
It's a reasonable precaution — booking a slightly later pickup time from the start avoids relying entirely on last-minute messages to your driver.
What if I can't reach my driver directly?
Call us and we'll help coordinate — we'd rather talk to you and adjust than have you standing at an empty terminal unsure what's happening.
Can I change the pickup time myself if I know the ferry will be late?
Contact us or message your driver as early as you can. Changing the time on the same day and route is free, subject to a car being available, and an early message gives the most room to adjust.
