Working Holiday in Sweden: Arriving from New Zealand

A working holiday visa application usually asks for some contact details in Sweden, but a taxi or transfer booking asks for something much simpler: a drop-off point. A hostel, a short-let apartment, a friend's building, even a central Stockholm address you'll sort out final details for once you arrive — any of those work as a destination. You don't need a signed lease or a personnummer to get from the airport to the city.

If your first night's plan is genuinely loose — you've got a booking.com reservation for tonight and nothing beyond that — use that address. You can always be dropped somewhere central and figure out the rest once you're not jet-lagged and hauling bags through a terminal.

A working holiday suitcase looks different from a week's holiday bag: work boots, a laptop, layers for a climate that swings harder than New Zealand's, sometimes a second bag of things you weren't sure you'd need but brought anyway. That's the detail that actually matters for the ride from Arlanda — not the flight, not the visa, but whether the car has room.

A standard car takes at most four pieces of luggage, no more than two of them large cases — so two big suitcases plus a backpack and a laptop bag is the most it holds.
