Romanian and Bulgarian Travellers to Stockholm

With Romania and Bulgaria now fully in the Schengen area, flights between either country and Sweden are treated as internal Schengen travel — no routine passport check at the border, no separate immigration queue the way there used to be. In practice that means arriving at Arlanda is closer to arriving from any other EU country: you land, collect your bags, and head straight out rather than joining a passport line first.

It's still sensible to carry your passport or national ID card with you, since spot checks can happen and you'll want ID for hotel check-in or anything else that asks for it, but it's no longer the queue-defining step of the trip it used to be.

Without a passport queue to allow for, the time between landing and being ready to leave the terminal has generally become shorter and more predictable, which is worth knowing if you're timing a pickup or a connection into the city. It doesn't remove the usual variables — how far your gate is from baggage claim, how quickly bags arrive — but it removes the one that used to add the most uncertainty.

With the border side simpler, the transfer into the city is the main thing left to plan. Booking ahead means the price is fixed and shown before you fly, your driver already has your flight number so the pickup time follows your actual landing, and you're not deciding between transport options once you're already at the airport.

This applies just as much whether you're visiting for a few days or arriving for longer-term work — the booking only needs a destination address, whatever the purpose of your trip.

The price covers the whole car rather than each traveller individually, which is worth knowing if you're flying with a partner, colleague or family member on the same booking. It also means the cost doesn't change depending on how many people are actually in the car, as long as everyone and their luggage fits the category you've chosen.
