The rule for adults
Every passenger over the relevant age and height for an adult belt wears one, in the front seat and every rear seat, for the entire journey, no matter how short. This applies in any car in Sweden, not specifically taxis, but it's worth stating plainly for anyone used to a country where rear-seat belts are optional or rarely checked.
The rule for children
Children need an appropriate restraint for their size — a car seat for younger children, a booster for older ones — rather than an adult belt alone until they're tall enough for it to fit properly. This is treated seriously, not as a formality. The rules have specific provisions for taxis, which Transportstyrelsen sets out — but a restraint that fits the child is the safe choice in any car.

Child seats can be requested at booking for children aged 0 to 3 — tell us the child's age when you book and we fit the right seat before pickup. If your child is older and still needs a booster, bring your own — we don't provide boosters for children over three.
