Uppsala's student housing is spread across corridor rooms, nation-run accommodation and blocks managed by the housing office, and the exact entrance or building name matters more than it would for a normal city address — several buildings can share a similar street name, and a nation's own accommodation often sits slightly apart from the nation house itself.

Whatever confirmation email or housing contract you were sent will usually have the precise address, including any block or entrance letter. Copy that exactly into your booking rather than the general nation or street name, and add anything else useful — a keycode, a contact person, which entrance to use — in the notes field. Getting it right when you book is far easier than sorting it out once you're standing outside with your bags.

If you're arriving on the same flight, or close to it, as other students heading to the same nation or the same part of town, one car between you is worth arranging. The price is set for the whole vehicle, not per passenger, so splitting it between three or four people arriving together brings the per-person cost down a long way compared with everyone booking separately.

It also means less standing around at the airport working out who's waiting for whom — one driver, one car, one address to confirm, and everyone's luggage travels together rather than being split across different pickups.

Term-start luggage tends to run heavier than a normal trip — bedding, kitchen basics, sometimes a bike box or a second bag you weren't allowed to check for free.
