Flying in for Vasaloppet: Getting from Arlanda Towards Dalarna

Our cars run fixed-price transfers within Arlanda, Stockholm and the Uppsala region — that's the entire service area, and it doesn't stretch to Dalarna. Getting from Arlanda to Mora, Sälen or anywhere further into the race region means a second leg: a train from Stockholm Central, a coach, or a rental car, none of which we arrange or have any special knowledge of beyond what's publicly available.

What we can do is the first leg well: get you and your ski bags from the terminal to wherever that second leg starts, on time, with a car that actually has room for ski bags.

If you're connecting onward the same day, the walk from arrivals to a car matters more than usual — ski bags are long and awkward, and there's often a boot bag, a rucksack and race gear on top of ordinary luggage. Mention the ski bags in your booking notes so the car sent has room for them alongside anything else you're carrying; a Standard car's luggage budget fills quickly with a full ski kit, so if you're travelling with more than one skier's gear it's worth looking at a larger category before you book.

Because your pickup time follows your flight's actual landing rather than a scheduled time, a delay on the way in doesn't mean standing around waiting for a car that was told the wrong time — it's already adjusted.

A point-to-point booking — not the standard Arlanda pickup, but a route you set yourself — is the useful tool here. It lets you go from the airport to Stockholm Central, to a hotel you're staying at before the onward train, or between two points within Stockholm and Uppsala if your trip has a stopover there before heading north.

It won't get you to Mora or Sälen directly, and we're not going to pretend it can. What it does is remove the guesswork from the part of the journey that is ours: one agreed price for the car, confirmed before you pay, for exactly the route you name.

Vasaloppet week draws large numbers of skiers through Stockholm on the same days, which means trains and coaches heading north fill up and stations get busy. If your flight lands with a tight window before your onward connection, build in more buffer than you think you need — a fixed pickup time from us doesn't help if the train itself is the bottleneck.

Arriving a day early and staying in Stockholm or Uppsala overnight before continuing north is a common way skiers give themselves slack, and it turns the whole trip into two simple, bookable legs rather than one rushed one.
