Arriving at Arlanda

Arlanda Airport Terminal-by-Terminal Pickup Guide

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) runs four active terminals — 2, 3, 4 and 5 — and which one your flight uses changes what arrival actually looks like: how far you walk, whether you clear passport control, and where the concourse opens out into a pickup area. None of that is obvious until you've done it once.

This guide goes terminal by terminal, so you know what to expect before you land, and explains how a pre-booked pickup actually finds you regardless of which one your flight lands at.

Which terminal will you land in?

Terminal 5 is Arlanda's largest and handles arrivals from outside the Schengen area — long-haul and international flights that route you through passport control and, usually, a bag reclaim hall before you reach the public concourse. If your trip involves a passport check on arrival, you're almost certainly coming through here.

Terminals 2, 3 and 4 handle domestic and Schengen arrivals, where there's no passport control and the walk from gate to concourse is shorter. Terminal 2 is used for a large share of domestic and Schengen traffic; 3 and 4 handle a mix of other Schengen and, for some carriers, international routes. Terminals 4 and 5 are connected airside and landside through the Sky City concourse, so even if your flight uses one, some services and pickup points are shared.

Your terminal is printed on your boarding pass and shown on the arrivals board — you don't need to work it out yourself. All that matters for your transfer is your flight number, which we already have from booking.

What arrival actually looks like

At Terminal 5, expect a longer sequence: gate, passport control, baggage reclaim, then customs, before the arrivals hall opens onto the main concourse. It's the busiest terminal and the one where the walk from aircraft to kerb takes the longest, simply because of that sequence.

At Terminals 2, 3 and 4, the same walk is shorter — no passport control, and in most cases a more direct path from baggage reclaim to the arrivals exit. The concourses are smaller and easier to get your bearings in.

In every case, the pickup area for a pre-booked car sits just outside the arrivals exit, separate from the taxi rank queue — a marked short-stop zone where a driver can wait with a car rather than circling.

How we tell you exactly where to go

You add your flight number when you book, and we track it — not the scheduled time, the actual one. Ninety minutes before your adjusted pickup time, you get a message with your driver's name, phone number and licence plate, so you know who's meeting you and can call or message the moment you're through the doors.

Because the driver is watching the same live flight data you'd see on the arrivals board, they already know which terminal you're arriving at and time their own arrival at the pickup zone to match — you don't need to specify a terminal separately, and a gate or terminal change on the day doesn't change anything on your end.

If you can't find your driver straight away

  • Message or call the number sent in your 90-minute update — that's the fastest way to confirm you're both looking at the same pickup point.
  • Head for the marked short-stop zone outside the arrivals exit rather than the general taxi rank; that's where a pre-booked car will be waiting.
  • If it's a big terminal and you're not sure which exit you've come out of, the arrivals hall signage names it — read that back to the driver over the phone and they'll adjust.
  • Your booking confirmation email has the same contact details as the 90-minute message, in case you need them earlier.

Questions people ask before booking

Which terminal is used for international arrivals at Arlanda?

Terminal 5 handles arrivals from outside the Schengen area, including passport control. Terminals 2, 3 and 4 handle domestic and Schengen arrivals, which skip passport control.

Do I need to tell you which terminal I'm landing at?

No — your flight number is enough. We track the flight and know which terminal it uses, and your driver plans their own arrival around it.

Where exactly does my driver wait?

In the marked pickup zone just outside the terminal's arrivals exit, separate from the taxi rank. Your 90-minute message names the driver and gives you their number so you can confirm the spot on the day.

What if my flight's terminal changes at the last minute?

That happens occasionally at any airport. If you notice it, a quick message to the number in your booking confirmation means the driver knows before you land — otherwise, describe your exit and they'll adjust.

Is Terminal 5 a long walk to the pickup point?

It's Arlanda's largest terminal, so the walk from baggage reclaim to the arrivals exit is longer than at 2, 3 or 4 — budget a little extra time, which is already built into how we plan your pickup.

How far in advance should I book if I don't know my terminal yet?

Book any time before you land with just your flight number — the terminal, and any change to it, is something we work out from live flight data, not something you need to specify upfront.
