Your Flight Was Cancelled — What Happens to Your Ride to Arlanda?

Updated 3 min read

An airline cancellation lands as its own kind of chaos — rebooking, refunds, sometimes a hotel voucher — and the ride you already booked to get to the airport can feel like a small thing in the middle of it. It isn't complicated to sort out, but it's worth knowing exactly what to do so it doesn't get forgotten in the scramble.

This covers what happens to your booked ride when the flight itself is cancelled by the airline, and the difference it makes whether you find out with plenty of notice or almost none.

The first thing to do

As soon as you know your flight is cancelled, contact us — by phone or email — rather than assuming the ride sorts itself out. Give us your booking reference and the new plan if you already have one: a rebooked flight, a different day, or no immediate replacement while you deal with the airline.

If your flight is cancelled by the airline

When an airline cancels or diverts your flight, we refund you in full, whatever the timing — this is treated differently from a normal change of mind, because the flight being disrupted is exactly the kind of problem we exist to take off your hands, not yours to absorb.

That's true whether you find out days before your original pickup or with almost no notice at all. The refund applies to the situation, not to how much warning you happened to get.

If you're rebooked rather than left without a flight

Airlines often rebook cancelled passengers onto a later flight the same day, the next day, or sometimes a different route entirely. Once you have the new flight details, the simplest path is to cancel the original ride — refunded in full because the original flight was cancelled by the airline — and book a fresh one for the new time, so the pickup and flight tracking line up correctly with the flight you're actually taking.

If the new flight is the same day and the same route to the airport, ask us whether the existing booking can simply be moved rather than cancelled and rebooked — it can save a step when the change is small.

What this doesn't cover

This full-refund treatment is specifically for a flight cancelled or diverted by the airline. If you decide on your own not to travel — a change of plans unrelated to the flight — that falls under our ordinary cancellation policy instead: free more than 12 hours before pickup, and we do what we can for you inside that window, including reselling or reassigning the trip where possible.

Keeping the two situations distinct matters mainly for how quickly things get sorted: an airline cancellation is refunded outright once we've confirmed it, while a personal change of plan follows the standard notice-based policy.

What every Förare booking includes

The fixed price you see before booking is the price on your receipt — 6% VAT included, whole car, not per person.

  • Flight tracked — pickup follows your live arrival
  • 45 minutes free waiting on every pickup, from your driver's confirmed arrival
  • No terminal fee
  • No surge pricing, ever
  • Free cancellation up to 12 hours

Questions people ask before booking

Do I get a refund if my flight is cancelled by the airline?

Yes — in full, whatever the timing, because a flight cancelled by the airline is treated differently from a normal change of mind about the ride itself.

What if I find out my flight is cancelled the night before pickup?

Contact us as soon as you know. An airline cancellation is refunded in full regardless of how much notice you had.

Can I move my ride to a rebooked flight instead of cancelling it?

Yes — contact us with the new flight details and we re-quote if the route or timing changes; if you're keeping the same route and just changing the time on the same day, that's free.

What if the airline rebooks me for a completely different day?

Cancel the original booking (refunded in full, since the flight was cancelled by the airline) and book a new ride for the new day once you have a confirmed flight time.

Does this apply if I choose to cancel my own trip rather than the airline cancelling the flight?

No — that's covered by our ordinary cancellation policy instead: free more than 12 hours before pickup, and we do what we can if you contact us inside that window.

How do I actually get in touch when a cancellation happens?

Use the contact details on your booking confirmation — call if it's urgent and close to your pickup time, or email with your booking reference if you have a little more time to sort it out.
