Storm Warning but Flight Still On: Should You Still Leave?
Updated 3 min read
A storm warning on the news and a flight status that still says "on time" pull in opposite directions, and it's genuinely unclear which one to trust. The honest answer is that the airline's own status is the more reliable signal — but that doesn't mean the drive itself is risk-free, and it's worth separating the two decisions.
This is about how to check what actually matters, and what your options are if you decide the trip isn't worth the risk.
Check the airline, not the general weather warning
A general storm warning for a region doesn't automatically mean flights are affected — airports and airlines make their own operational decisions based on actual conditions at the airfield, which can be entirely unaffected even when a wider area is under a severe weather warning. Check your specific flight's status directly with the airline rather than assuming a regional warning applies to it.
If the flight genuinely shows as on time close to your departure, that's the airline's own assessment of the conditions they'll actually be flying in, which is a better signal than a general forecast covering a much wider area.
Leaving as planned
If your flight is confirmed as on time, the practical move is to leave for the airport as planned, while building in a bit more margin than usual for road conditions — a storm can slow traffic even where the flight itself isn't affected. Give us your flight number if you haven't already; we watch it and will help you rearrange if anything changes before you land at Arlanda for an arrival, or if your specific departure gets disrupted later.
If you decide not to travel
If you'd rather not risk the drive regardless of what the airline says, that's your call to make, and our standard cancellation policy applies: free of charge more than 12 hours before pickup, refunded in full. Inside 12 hours, contact us as soon as you decide and we'll do what we can — where we can resell or reassign the trip we refund what's possible, and we always tell you the outcome.
If your flight is later cancelled or diverted by the airline because of the storm, that's refunded in full regardless of timing, since a flight disrupted by the airline is treated differently from a personal decision not to travel.

Questions people ask before booking
If there's a storm warning but my flight shows on time, should I still go?
Check directly with your airline rather than relying on a general regional warning — if the flight is confirmed on time, that's the airline's own read of conditions at the airfield, which is more reliable than a wider forecast.
Is it safe to drive to Arlanda during a storm even if the flight is unaffected?
Build in extra margin for road conditions regardless of the flight's status — a storm can slow traffic on the way even when it doesn't affect flying.
What if I decide I don't want to travel because of the weather?
Our standard cancellation policy applies: free more than 12 hours before pickup, refunded in full. Inside 12 hours, contact us as soon as you decide and we'll do what we can.
What happens if the airline cancels my flight because of the storm after I've already decided to travel?
That's refunded in full regardless of timing, since a flight cancelled or diverted by the airline is treated differently from choosing not to travel.
Will my pickup move automatically if my flight is delayed by the storm?
For a departure, the pickup time is the one you set — contact us to change it if the delay affects your plans, since it doesn't move on its own the way an arrival pickup does.
