Overslept? What Happens When Your Driver Is Already Outside

Call or message the driver immediately, on the number you were sent before pickup — don't spend the first few minutes scrambling to get ready before telling them anything. Let them know you're up and moving and roughly how many minutes you need; drivers deal with this regularly and a quick heads-up is far better than silence while they wait and wonder.

Every pickup includes free waiting time, counted from the moment your driver confirms arrival — not from your booked pickup time itself, and your driver can't confirm arrival before that booked time, so the waiting clock never starts before you were actually due. That built-in buffer is exactly for situations like this: a few extra minutes to finish getting ready doesn't automatically become a problem.

If you know you'll need more than the free waiting time, call the driver as early as possible and be honest about how long — they may be able to wait a little longer depending on their next booking, or we can talk through the options with you. The worst approach is staying silent and hoping to make it just in time; a driver who's heard nothing has no way to plan around you.

If you don't appear, don't answer your phone, and the free waiting time runs out, the booking counts as used and isn't refunded — this is the outcome that a quick call in the first few minutes is specifically there to prevent. Answering the phone and talking to your driver, even just to say you're running a little behind, is the single thing most likely to avoid that outcome.
