Flying Out with a Pet in the Cabin: The Ride to Arlanda
Updated 3 min read
Travelling with a pet in the cabin means two separate things need to line up: your airline's own pet policy, which sets whether it's allowed at all and what carrier it needs, and the ride to the airport, which needs to know an animal is coming so we can send a car that accepts it.
This guide covers both, in the order that actually matters — airline first, then the transfer.
On this page
Check your airline's pet policy first
Airlines set their own rules for cabin pets — which species and sizes are allowed, carrier dimensions, fees, and how far in advance you need to register the pet on your booking. Check your specific airline's pet travel page well before your flight, since some require the pet to be added to the booking days or weeks ahead, not at check-in.
This is entirely the airline's rule to set and enforce; it has nothing to do with your transfer to the airport, so sort it independently and early.
Booking your transfer with a pet
Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel free and always. Other animals must be requested at booking — mention your pet, its carrier size, and roughly its weight in the booking notes, and we confirm before pickup that the car we're sending can take it.
Arriving early for pet check-in
Pet check-in at the airline desk typically takes longer than a standard check-in — the carrier gets checked against the airline's requirements, sometimes weighed, and there can be a queue if it's a busy departure window. Build extra time into your pickup for this, on top of your usual security and boarding margin, so the pet check-in step doesn't put pressure on the rest of your morning.
During the ride itself
Once the car's confirmed to take your pet, the ride to Arlanda is a normal part of the trip — keep the pet in its carrier or however your airline requires it to travel for the flight, so it's already used to the setup rather than being placed in it for the first time at the airport. A calmer pet at the desk generally makes the check-in step quicker for everyone.
If your pet is travelling in the hold instead
Some airlines only permit certain species or sizes in the cabin and require anything larger to travel in the hold, with its own separate check-in process and often its own desk. If that applies to your pet, the same principle holds — confirm the airline's process well ahead of travel, and let us know at booking so the vehicle and timing both account for it.

Questions people ask before booking
Do I need to tell the airline I'm bringing a pet in the cabin?
Yes — check your airline's pet policy well ahead of travel, since many require the pet registered on your booking days or weeks in advance, not at check-in.
Do I need to tell you I'm bringing a pet?
Yes, other than guide or assistance dogs, which travel free and always — mention your pet and its carrier in the booking notes and we confirm the car can take it before pickup.
Is there a fee for bringing a pet in your car?
Requesting an animal is done through the booking notes and confirmed with you before pickup — any separate airline pet fee is set by the airline, not by us.
How much extra time should I allow for pet check-in at the airport?
More than a standard check-in — the carrier is typically checked against the airline's requirements and sometimes weighed, which can take longer, especially at a busy departure time.
