When a Nanny Meets the Children at Arlanda
Updated 3 min read
Sometimes the parent who booked the flights isn't the one who can be at the airport when they land — work, another child, a scheduling clash — and a nanny or trusted carer is meeting the children instead. That's a perfectly normal arrangement, but it raises two separate questions: what the airline needs to know if a minor is travelling, and how to make sure the transfer from Arlanda goes to the right adult.
This guide covers the transfer side clearly, and flags the one thing that's genuinely outside our hands — airline rules for unaccompanied or accompanied minors, which you'll need to confirm with the airline directly, since they vary by carrier and route.
Booking when you won't be the one meeting them
You can book the transfer yourself with the children's flight details, even if you're not travelling and won't be at the airport — enter the flight number and the destination address, and the booking works exactly the same way. What changes is who meets the car: make sure the nanny or carer knows a driver will be waiting and has the details to recognise them.
The driver's name, phone number and licence plate are sent out before the flight lands. Forward that to whoever is meeting the children so they're looking for a specific person and car, not guessing among a crowd of drivers in the arrivals hall.
What the airline needs to know
If your children are travelling without a parent — as unaccompanied minors, or accompanied by someone other than a parent or guardian — the airline will have its own requirements, which can include consent paperwork and a nominated adult collecting them at arrivals. Those rules differ by airline and aren't something a transfer booking can substitute for, so confirm directly with the carrier well before travel.
What we can say plainly: once the children are through arrivals and being collected by the adult you've arranged, the ride itself works the same as any other family transfer, with a seat requested in advance if needed and the price fixed before you book.
Seats and comfort for the children themselves
If a child seat is needed, add it in the booking form with the child's age (our bookable seats cover under one, and one to three) and it's fitted before the car arrives. For older children, an ordinary seat belt applies, and Swedish law expects an appropriate restraint for their size if they're still young enough to need one — bring a booster if you're not certain a seat belt alone fits them properly.

Questions people ask before booking
Can I book the transfer if I'm not the one flying?
Yes — book with the children's flight details and the destination address, whether or not you're travelling yourself. You'll get the driver's details to pass to whoever's meeting them.
How will the nanny know which car and driver to look for?
The driver's name, phone number and licence plate are sent before pickup — forward that message to whoever is collecting the children so they can recognise the right car directly.
Do you handle unaccompanied minor arrangements with the airline?
No — that's between you and the airline, since requirements differ by carrier and route. Confirm those directly; our transfer covers the ride from the terminal onward once the children are collected.
Can I request a child seat for the ride?
Yes — add it to your booking notes with the child's age, under one or one to three, and it's fitted before you land.
What if the flight is delayed?
The pickup time follows the flight's actual landing, tracked automatically, so a delay doesn't leave the driver waiting at the wrong time.
