Children Aged Four and Up in a Swedish Taxi: Boosters and Belts

Under one, or one to three years old — those are the two ages our bookable seats cover, added in the booking form and fitted before you land. That's a deliberate, exact boundary, not a rough guideline, and we'd rather be precise about it than let a parent assume it stretches further than it does.

For a child aged four or above, we don't currently offer a bookable booster, so plan to bring your own if your child's height means a seat belt alone wouldn't sit correctly across them yet.

Swedish traffic law requires children to use a restraint appropriate to their height and weight until an ordinary seat belt fits them safely and correctly on its own — which for many children is well past their fourth birthday, closer to when they're tall enough for the belt to sit properly across the shoulder and hip rather than the neck or stomach.

For the specifics that apply to your child's exact age and height, Transportstyrelsen — Sweden's transport agency — publishes the current guidance directly, and it's worth checking there rather than relying on a general rule of thumb, since it depends on the individual child, not just an age cutoff.

A foldable or inflatable travel booster packs small and is the simplest solution if your child is between our seat range and the point where an ordinary belt fits them well. Mention in your booking notes that you're bringing your own booster so the driver knows to expect it — it doesn't change anything about the booking itself, it's just useful context.
