Kids, Dog and Luggage: The Family Pet Trip

Mention your dog when you book — the size, whether it'll be in a crate or carrier or travelling loose with a harness, and any other detail that affects space. This is confirmed before pickup, not something to work out at the kerb, so the car sent actually has room for a crate alongside the family and their bags.

A car seat and a dog crate both take up real space, and fitting both alongside luggage for a family trip is exactly the kind of load an ordinary Standard car wasn't built for. SUV / XL, with six seats and a ten-unit luggage budget, generally handles a family with one dog and a moderate amount of luggage; a larger dog, more than one animal, or a fuller luggage load points toward the Minibus category instead.

If a child seat is needed too, add it in the booking form with the child's age, and request the dog in the booking notes — both are sorted before pickup, so the car arrives already set up for everyone, human and animal, rather than needing adjustment on arrival.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel free and always, without needing to be requested in advance the way other animals do. For any other animal, we ask that it be requested at booking rather than brought unannounced, so the right vehicle and driver expectations are set from the start.

Seats and space come first: a dog needs room of its own, child seats take up rear positions, and the luggage has to fit around both. For many families that points to the SUV / XL, which seats six and takes up to four large cases; a larger dog, a big crate or more luggage points to the Minibus. Give the dog's size and whether it travels in a crate in the booking notes so we can confirm the right car.
