Grandparents Flying in to Meet a Newborn: Arrival Without the New Parents

You do not need a Swedish phone number, a local address to book from, or anyone else's help to arrange the ride. The booking form asks for your own name and phone number, your flight number, and the address you are heading to — which is simply the new parents' home, entered like any other address. You are the passenger and the person on the booking; the new parents do not need to do anything.

Because the flight number is what the whole system runs on, tell us your actual arriving flight and we track it from the moment you take off. If a connection runs late or your first flight is delayed, your pickup time moves with your real landing time rather than the time you booked weeks earlier — you do not need to call anyone to adjust it, and the new parents do not need to be woken up to relay a change.

In the hour and a half before your pickup, we send your driver's name, phone number and licence plate to the phone number on your booking. That message is worth reading properly if this is your first trip to Sweden: it means you are looking for a specific car and a specific person in the arrivals hall, not scanning a crowd of drivers holding signs and hoping one is yours.

The price is fixed and agreed before you fly — one figure for the whole car, shown at booking, with nothing added at the other end. If your flight lands early or late, that price does not change either.

Grandparents meeting a first grandchild rarely travel light — there's a suitcase for a week or two, gifts, and often something for the baby that does not fold down small. None of that needs explaining at the kerb: enter your route and passenger count, and the booking page shows how much luggage room the car you're choosing actually has before you pay.

If you are bringing something unusually large — a big box, an oversized gift, anything that will not fit in a normal case — mention it in the notes field when you book. We confirm it fits before pickup rather than leaving it to be worked out at the airport with a tired grandchild waiting to be met.
