New Students at Karolinska Institutet: Solna or Flemingsberg?

It's easy to assume a university's two campuses sit reasonably near each other, but Solna and Flemingsberg are on opposite sides of Stockholm, roughly the length of the city apart. Before you book anything, check your programme's induction materials or your acceptance letter for which campus your first day is actually at — it's the single most important thing to get right before arrival.

Student housing assignments don't always sit next to the campus you're studying at — you might be housed north while studying south, or the reverse. Check your housing confirmation separately from your programme details, and book your arrival to whichever address you're actually heading to first: campus, halls, or a temporary address if housing isn't ready yet.

It's not unusual for student housing to have a start date that doesn't quite line up with when you actually arrive in Sweden — a key pickup that opens a day or two after your flight, for instance. If that's your situation, book your arrival to wherever you're actually staying for those first nights, whether that's temporary accommodation or a friend's address, and sort the move to permanent housing as its own trip once it's ready.
