Surfboards, Kayak Paddles and Long Items

It's worth saying plainly: a full-length surfboard, a set of kayak paddles, or anything else long and rigid may not fit in any of our vehicle categories, and we'd rather tell you that clearly than let you book and find out at the kerb. This isn't a case of "it depends on the driver" — it's a real physical limit on boot and interior length that no amount of goodwill changes.

Measure the item, not the category

A shortboard or a boogie board, often under two metres in a padded bag, has a reasonable chance of lying diagonally in a larger vehicle's boot. A longboard, most kayak paddles when they don't break down, and anything close to or over two metres is unlikely to fit any car we operate — a taxi's boot and cabin, even in the largest category, aren't built to carry surfboard or kayak-length items.

Before you book, measure the item in its travel bag if it has one. That number, not the general category of "surfboard" or "paddle", is what determines whether it's realistic.

Ask before you book, not after

Put the exact length and shape in a message to us before booking, or in the notes with enough detail that we can check before pickup. We'll give you an honest answer — either it's something a specific category can take, or it genuinely isn't something we can carry, in which case we'll say so rather than accept the booking and leave it to be discovered at pickup.

If it doesn't fit

For items that don't fit any car, the honest answer is that a dedicated freight or courier service built for oversized sports equipment is the right tool, separate from passenger transport. We can still take you and the rest of your luggage — it's just the one long item that needs a different route to its destination.

What does travel reasonably well

Break-down kayak paddles, shorter boards, and folding or sectioned equipment generally travel fine, the same as any oversized-but-manageable item — noted in advance, confirmed before pickup, and loaded by a driver who knows what to expect.

Questions people ask before booking

Will a full-length surfboard fit in any of your cars?

Realistically, no — our vehicle categories aren't built to carry surfboard-length items. We'll tell you that honestly before you book rather than let you find out at pickup.

What about a shorter board or a boogie board?

It has a better chance, particularly in a bag under two metres. Give us the exact length before booking and we'll confirm whether a specific category can take it.

Do kayak paddles fit if they break down?

Sectioned or breakdown paddles usually travel fine as an ordinary oversized item — note the packed length when you book.

What should I do if my item doesn't fit any car?

We'll say so honestly, and you're better served by a dedicated oversized-freight or courier option for that one item. We can still take you and the rest of your luggage.

Is there a fee for confirming whether an item fits?

No — message us or add it to your booking notes before paying, and we'll give you a straight answer at no cost.
