How Your Driver Finds You at Arlanda — and How You Find Them
Updated 3 min read
Meeting a pre-booked driver at a busy airport is, when you think about it, two strangers trying to find each other in a crowd — and it works reliably not because of luck, but because of a simple, consistent protocol on both sides. Understanding what each side actually knows makes the whole thing feel far less like guesswork.

What your driver knows about you
- Your name and booking reference, from the booking itself.
- Your flight number, tracked live so they know when you've actually landed.
- Your pickup address or, for an arrival, that you're coming from arrivals at Arlanda.
- Any notes you added at booking — luggage, a stroller, mobility needs, anything else relevant on the day.
What you know about your driver
- Their name, sent to you before pickup.
- Their phone number, so you can call or message directly.
- Their licence plate, to identify the car itself.
The protocol that puts it together
- Your flight lands, and tracking registers it automatically — no action needed from you.
- Your driver, already aware of your flight and its status, heads for the meeting point around your realistic exit time.
- You come through arrivals and head to wherever cars are meeting passengers, using the message you were sent as your reference.
- You match the plate and name to the car, and get in — or, if you can't immediately see it, you call the number you were sent.
Why it's built this way
Neither side is relying on visual recognition of a stranger in a crowd, which is exactly the part of an airport pickup that goes wrong most often in less structured systems. A name, a number and a plate are concrete, checkable facts — far more reliable than scanning a busy arrivals hall hoping to spot a sign or a face you've never seen.
It also means the process holds up under pressure: a late flight, a crowded terminal, a phone with patchy signal — the underlying information doesn't change, so there's always a way back to certainty even if the first attempt to connect doesn't go smoothly.
What to do if the first attempt doesn't work
If you've matched the details and still can't spot the car, or a call to the driver's number doesn't get through immediately, don't assume the worst — try again after a couple of minutes, since a driver might simply be mid-manoeuvre in traffic or briefly out of signal themselves. If it genuinely doesn't resolve, contact support directly and we'll step in from our side.
The system is built with enough redundancy — a name, a number and a plate, plus a support team who can see the booking — that one failed first attempt at contact is rarely the end of the story.

Questions people ask before booking
Does my driver know what I look like?
No — identification works the other way around. You're given the driver's name, phone number and licence plate, and you match those to find the car, rather than the driver trying to recognise you visually.
How does my driver know when I've landed?
Flight tracking follows your flight number and registers the actual landing time automatically — you don't need to message anyone to confirm it.
What if I can't see the car when I come out?
Call the phone number you were sent — it's the fastest, most reliable way to connect if the car isn't immediately visible.
What details does the driver have if I need to reach them?
Your booking reference, flight number, pickup address and any notes you added when booking, such as luggage or mobility needs.
Is this different from a name-sign meet-and-greet?
Yes — we don't promise a name-sign meeting as standard. The name, number and plate you're given work regardless of whether a driver is standing with a sign or waiting at the kerb.
