Cancelling Within 12 Hours: What Actually Happens
Updated 3 min read
The free cancellation window — more than 12 hours before pickup, refunded in full — covers most changed plans. This guide is for the other side of that line: what happens if something comes up closer to your pickup than that, when the automatic full refund no longer applies.

There's no statutory right to cancel a dated trip
It's worth being upfront about the legal position: transport booked for a specific date and time is excluded from the general consumer right of withdrawal under Swedish and EU distance-selling rules, because the service is tied to a fixed date rather than a product you could simply send back. The 12-hour free cancellation window isn't a legal requirement we're following — it's a policy we give voluntarily, which is exactly why the terms inside that window are also set by us rather than by statute.
What actually happens if you cancel late
Contact us as soon as you know your plans have changed — don't wait until pickup time itself. Where we can resell or reassign the trip to another booking, we refund what we genuinely can, and either way we tell you the outcome plainly rather than leave you wondering. It isn't an automatic full refund the way an earlier cancellation is, but it also isn't an automatic forfeiture — what happens depends on how much notice you actually gave and whether the trip could be reassigned.
The difference notice makes
A cancellation nine hours before pickup gives more room to potentially reassign the car than one made twenty minutes before your driver was due to arrive. The later you leave it, the less likely a resale or reassignment is possible, simply because there's less time to find another booking for that slot. This is exactly why contacting us the moment you know, rather than waiting, genuinely improves the outcome.
If the reason is outside your control
A cancelled or diverted flight, caused by the airline rather than by you, is handled differently and generously — you're refunded in full whatever the timing, because the disruption wasn't your choice. The 12-hour policy is aimed at ordinary changes of plan, not situations where the airline itself failed you.

Questions people ask before booking
Can I cancel within 12 hours of pickup at all?
Yes — contact us as soon as you know. We can't guarantee the same automatic full refund as an earlier cancellation, but we refund what we can where the trip can be resold or reassigned, and always tell you the outcome.
Why isn't a late cancellation automatically refunded in full?
Transport for a specific date and time is legally exempt from the general right of withdrawal, and our 12-hour policy is a voluntary benefit we give — the closer to pickup, the harder it is to reassign the trip to someone else.
Does it matter how much notice I give within the 12-hour window?
Yes — more notice, even inside that window, gives more chance the trip can be resold or reassigned, which affects what we can refund. Contact us the moment you know rather than waiting.
What if my flight is cancelled by the airline with less than 12 hours' notice?
That's refunded in full whatever the timing — a cancellation or diversion caused by the airline is treated differently from an ordinary change of plan.
What counts as a no-show versus a late cancellation?
A no-show is when you don't appear and don't answer your phone, and the free waiting time runs out — that booking is treated as used and isn't refunded. A late cancellation, where you actively tell us, is handled with a partial refund where possible.
