Child Seats: How They're Booked and Priced

Updated 3 min read

Travelling with a young child means the car itself is only half the question — the other half is whether the right seat is fitted and confirmed before you're standing at pickup with a toddler and no way to check. Here's exactly how that's booked and what it affects in the price.

The two age bands

Child seats are requested by age at booking: under 1 year, or 1 to 3 years. Tell us which applies and we fit the right seat before pickup — this isn't something you specify vaguely as 'a child seat' and hope it matches; the age band determines which seat is actually sent.

What we can't promise

We fit seats for the 0–3 age range, requested at booking. We don't offer booster seats for older children — if your child is older and still needs one by height, bring your own; a folding travel booster packs small.

How it affects the price

Requesting a child seat adds to the total shown before you pay — the fixed price you see at the end of booking already reflects it, with 6% VAT included like the rest of the fare. There's nothing added afterwards; what you're shown before payment is the complete figure.

Adding it after you've already booked

If you didn't request a seat when you first booked and realise you need one, contact support to add it — see the guide on changes that change the price for how that kind of edit is handled and re-quoted before you're charged the difference.

Bringing your own seat instead

If you'd rather use your own car seat than have one fitted for you, that's fine too — mention it in the booking notes so the driver knows to expect it and can allow a little extra time for fitting it correctly before you set off. Whether you use your own seat or request one from us, the important part is that it's confirmed before pickup rather than sorted out at the kerb with a driver who wasn't expecting either.

Travelling with more than one child in different age bands works the same way — request each seat separately with its own age band, so every child has the right seat fitted rather than one generic request covering a mix of ages it wasn't specific enough to describe.

Questions people ask before booking

How do I request a child seat?

In the booking form, by telling us the child's age band — under 1 year, or 1 to 3 years — so the right seat is fitted before pickup.

Do you provide booster seats for older children?

No — we fit seats for the 0–3 age range only. For an older child who still needs a booster, bring your own.

Is the cost of a child seat included in the price shown before I pay?

Yes — requesting a seat adds to the total shown before payment, so the figure you see at checkout is the complete price, nothing added afterwards.

Can I add a child seat request after I've already booked?

Yes — contact support to add it, and the difference is confirmed with you before it's charged, the same as any other change that affects the price.

What if I need two child seats for two children?

Request both age bands in the booking, and both are reflected in the price shown before you pay.
