Standard, Electric, SUV/XL, Business or Minibus: Which Car to Choose
Updated 3 min read
The category screen shows five options, and if it's your first booking, it isn't always obvious which one actually fits what you're carrying versus which one just costs more. Here's each category explained by what it's actually for, so the choice is about your trip, not a guess.
Standard
The default choice for most solo travellers, couples and small families: up to 4 passengers and a combined luggage budget of 2 large bags + 2 cabin bags, or 4 cabin bags. If you're not travelling with an unusual amount of luggage or a group larger than four, this is very likely the right category.
Electric
The same seats and luggage capacity as Standard, with the vehicle itself being fully electric — no local exhaust. Choose this if that matters to you; it doesn't change the price structure or the guarantees, only the vehicle sent. See the guide on electric car availability for what we can honestly say about getting one on any given booking.
SUV / XL
A step up in both seats and luggage: 6 passengers and a larger combined luggage budget, useful for a bigger family, a group of friends, or a couple with more luggage than a Standard car's budget covers — a third large suitcase is a common reason to move up to this category.
Business
A more premium vehicle and presentation, at the same 4-passenger capacity as Standard. It's about the car and how it's presented, not extra room — see the guide on what the Business category actually adds for the full detail on what does and doesn't come with it.
Minibus
The largest category: 8 passengers and a substantial luggage budget, built for a large family, two families travelling together, or a genuinely full group with a lot of bags. If you're weighing whether to book two smaller cars or one Minibus, this is usually the simpler and more coordinated option for a single group.
If you're still not sure
Count your actual passengers and bags before choosing, rather than guess based on the category names alone — a large checked case counts as two luggage units against the combined budget, and a cabin bag as one, so it's worth doing the rough arithmetic if you're near a category's limit. If you're genuinely unsure after that, mention your exact count in the booking notes and we'll confirm what fits before pickup, rather than let you discover a mismatch at the kerb.

Questions people ask before booking
How do I know if I need SUV/XL instead of Standard?
If your passengers or luggage exceed Standard's 4 seats and 6-unit budget (2 large bags + 2 cabin bags, or 4 cabin bags) — a third large suitcase is a common trigger — SUV/XL's larger capacity is the right move.
Does Electric cost more than Standard?
The categories are priced independently based on vehicle and route; Electric isn't automatically more expensive than Standard for the same trip, but check the price shown before you book for your specific route.
What does Business add over Standard?
A more premium vehicle and presentation, at the same passenger capacity — see the guide on what the Business category actually adds for the full picture.
When should I book Minibus instead of two smaller cars?
When your group of up to eight, with its luggage, fits Minibus's budget and you'd rather travel together in one vehicle than coordinate two separate pickups.
Can I change categories after booking if I've misjudged what I need?
Yes — contact support to move to a different category, and the price is re-quoted and confirmed with you before any difference is charged.
