Paying for Someone Else's Airport Ride as a Gift
Updated 3 min read
A parent visiting for the first time, a friend flying in for a wedding, a relative who'd never book a car for themselves but would happily be met at arrivals — sometimes the person travelling isn't the person who should be paying or planning the trip. Förare is built to let you do both parts: pay for it and arrange it, while they experience nothing but being met by name at the airport.
This is how that works in practice, so the person you're doing it for gets a smooth landing and you know it's actually handled.

Book with their details, pay with yours
When you book, the traveller details — name, phone number, flight number — belong to the person actually flying, not to you. You enter their flight so it's tracked correctly and their pickup time follows their actual landing, then complete payment yourself on your own card.
That split is exactly what the booking form is designed for. There's no requirement that the person paying and the person travelling are the same person.
What they experience at the airport
Before pickup, the driver's name, phone number and licence plate are sent to the contact details on the booking — so make sure the traveller's own phone number is what you enter, not yours, if you want them to be the one who gets that message and can call the driver directly.
From their side, it looks exactly like any other Förare pickup: their flight is tracked, a driver meets them, and there's nothing to pay and nothing to arrange. They don't need to see a price or touch a payment screen at any point.
The receipt comes to you
Because you're the one who paid, the receipt — with the VAT line — goes to the email address you used at checkout, not to the traveller. That's useful if this is a gift you want a record of, or if it's actually a work booking for someone visiting on the company's behalf.
If plans change
- Free cancellation more than 12 hours before pickup, refunded in full to the card that paid — you don't need the traveller involved to cancel.
- If their flight is delayed, the pickup time follows the actual landing automatically, so nobody needs to watch the departures board on your behalf.
- If you need to change a detail — a different flight, a different address — get in touch and we'll update the booking before they land.
What every Förare booking includes
The fixed price you see before booking is the price on your receipt — 6% VAT included, whole car, not per person.
- Flight tracked — pickup follows your live arrival
- 45 minutes free waiting, from your driver's confirmed arrival
- No terminal fee
- No surge pricing, ever
- Free cancellation up to 12 hours
Questions people ask before booking
Can I book and pay for someone else's airport transfer?
Yes. Enter the traveller's flight number and contact details so they're the ones met and messaged, and pay yourself at checkout — the two don't have to be the same person.
Whose phone number gets the driver's details before pickup?
Whichever number is entered on the booking as the traveller's contact. Use their number if you want them to receive the driver's name, phone number and licence plate directly.
Does the receipt go to me or to the person travelling?
To whoever paid. Since you completed checkout, the receipt with the VAT line goes to your email address.
Does the traveller need to download anything or set anything up?
No. They just need to be at the pickup point at the right time — everything else, including flight tracking and driver details, happens automatically from the booking you made.
Can I cancel a booking I made for someone else?
Yes — as the person who booked and paid, you can cancel free of charge more than 12 hours before pickup, refunded to the card used.
