More Than Eight Travelling? Why You Book Two Cars
Updated 3 min read
A group of ten lands, one person tries to book a single car for everyone, and the booking flow won't offer a vehicle that seats them all. It isn't a gap in the product — it's a legal limit on how many fare-paying passengers a single taxi can carry in Sweden, and it applies to every licensed operator, not just to us.
Here's why that limit exists, and how to book two cars that get your group to the same place at the same time without anyone feeling split up.

The eight-passenger ceiling
Swedish taxi traffic rules cap a single licensed taxi vehicle at eight fare-paying passengers. It's a legal limit tied to the vehicle's licensing, not a company policy that could flex for a large enough group or a good enough reason — no licensed taxi operator can legally carry a ninth passenger in the same car, whatever the vehicle's actual physical capacity looks like.
That's why the largest single category available is the Minibus, seating up to eight. A group of nine or more simply needs a second vehicle — there isn't a bigger single-car option to move up to.
Booking two cars for one group
- Split your group into two parties — however makes sense for you, by family, by who's carrying which luggage, or simply by headcount.
- Book two vehicles for the same route and the same pickup time, choosing the categories that fit each party's numbers and luggage.
- Enter the same address and flight details on both bookings where relevant, so both drivers are working from the same information.
- Both cars are timed to depart together, so your group arrives at the destination close together rather than staggered.
It costs two fixed prices, not one large one
Because pricing is per car, two bookings means two separate fixed prices rather than one number for the whole group. Both are shown before you pay, so there's nothing hidden about what splitting into two vehicles actually costs compared with what a single, larger car would have cost if one existed.
Planning ahead for a large group
If you know in advance that your group is close to or over eight, it's worth planning the two-car split before you travel rather than at the last minute — deciding who travels in which car, and making sure both bookings have accurate flight or timing details, is easier to sort out calmly ahead of time than at the arrivals hall with everyone waiting.

Questions people ask before booking
Why can't Förare send one bigger vehicle for a group of ten?
Swedish taxi traffic law caps a single licensed vehicle at eight fare-paying passengers. It applies to every operator, not just to us, so there's no larger single-car option to move up to.
How do I book two cars for one group?
Make two separate bookings for the same route and pickup time, splitting your group and luggage between them — both cars are timed to depart together.
Will the two cars actually arrive at the same time?
They're booked to depart together on the same route, so in normal conditions they arrive close together, though as with any two vehicles minor timing differences on the road are possible.
Do we pay one combined price for both cars?
No — each vehicle has its own fixed price, shown before you pay, since pricing is per car rather than per group.
Can the two cars be different categories, like one SUV/XL and one Standard?
Yes — choose whichever combination of categories fits how you've split your group and luggage across the two bookings.
Should we split the group evenly between the two cars?
However suits you — by family, by luggage, or by headcount. What matters is that each car's own passenger and luggage total fits the category you've chosen for it.
