Private or Company Receipt: Choosing at Checkout
Updated 3 min read
Right before you pay, checkout asks a small but sometimes fiddly question: is this receipt for you, or for a company? It's easy to skim past without thinking, and then regret it later when the wrong receipt lands in your inbox and you need it for an expense claim. Here's what the choice actually means and how to get it right the first time.
This is a short, practical guide to the private-versus-company decision at checkout.

What each option produces
Choosing the private option makes the receipt out to you personally — your name, as entered at checkout, with the price and VAT breakdown attached. Choosing the company option instead asks for company details, and the receipt is issued in the company's name, still with the same VAT breakdown, but structured the way a business would need for its own bookkeeping.
When to choose each
- Private: a personal trip, a holiday, or any booking where you're not planning to expense the cost to an employer.
- Company: a business trip, a delegation, or any booking that a company will reimburse or record against its own accounts.
- If you're booking on behalf of someone else but a company is footing the bill, the company option is usually right, since the receipt then matches who's actually paying.
Getting it right before you pay
The choice is made at checkout, before payment, so it's worth pausing on that step specifically if the receipt matters to you — rather than defaulting to whichever option happens to be selected first. Once the booking is paid and the receipt issued, it reflects whatever you selected at that point.
If you're booking for someone else
The receipt option reflects whoever paid, not necessarily who travelled — if you're booking a trip for a colleague or a visiting client on the company's account, choose the company option regardless of whose flight details are entered as the traveller, since the receipt is about who's financially responsible for the trip, not who sat in the car.

Questions people ask before booking
Where do I choose between a private and a company receipt?
At checkout, before you pay — there's a clear choice at that step, and it determines whose name and details the receipt carries.
What's on a company receipt that isn't on a private one?
The company's details in place of your personal name, structured for business bookkeeping — the price and VAT breakdown are the same either way.
I picked the wrong option — can it be changed afterward?
Contact us with your booking details as soon as you notice, and we can look at correcting it.
Do I need to be an employee of the company to choose the company option?
The option is there for whoever the booking should be recorded against — if a company is paying or reimbursing the trip, the company option is the right choice.
Does choosing a company receipt change the price?
No — the fixed price is the same either way. The choice only affects how the receipt is made out.
If I book for a colleague, whose details determine the receipt?
Whoever's paying — choose the company option if it's a company-funded trip, regardless of whose flight and contact details are entered for pickup.
Is the VAT breakdown the same on both types of receipt?
Yes — the price and VAT breakdown are identical either way. Only the name and details the receipt is made out to differ.
