Getting SMS Updates While Roaming
Updated 3 min read
The driver's name, phone number and licence plate arrive by SMS before your pickup, which works smoothly if you're on a Swedish number — but if you're travelling on a foreign phone number and roaming is unreliable or switched off, it's worth understanding how to make sure that message actually reaches you.
Here's what to check before you land, and why email is worth having as a backup either way.

Enter your number in international format
When you book, enter your phone number with its full international format, including the country code — that's what allows the SMS to route correctly to a foreign number rather than being treated as a local one. If you're unsure of the format, include the plus sign and country code at the start, the way you'd dial it from abroad.
Make sure roaming is actually on before you land
SMS delivery depends on your phone actually being reachable on a network once you land — if roaming is switched off, or your plan doesn't include SMS while abroad, the message can't reach you no matter how correctly it was sent. It's worth checking your roaming settings and your plan's terms before you fly, particularly if you're relying on that message to know who's meeting you.
Email as a backup
Alongside the SMS, the same driver details are also sent to the email address on your booking. If you land and airport wifi is available before you've confirmed roaming is working, checking email is a reliable second way to get the same information without depending on a text message actually arriving.
Setting this up before you fly
It's worth checking your roaming settings and your number format before your travel day, rather than at arrivals with your phone in one hand and luggage in the other. Enable roaming ahead of time where your plan allows it, and double-check the phone number on your booking confirmation reads correctly with its country code — a small check that avoids relying on a message that might not reach you.

Questions people ask before booking
Will I get my driver's details by SMS on a foreign phone number?
Yes, as long as your number was entered in full international format at booking and your phone can receive SMS while roaming.
What if I don't have roaming or my plan doesn't cover SMS abroad?
Check email as a backup — the same driver details are sent there too, and airport wifi can get you that message even before roaming is confirmed working.
How should I enter my phone number when booking from abroad?
In full international format, including the country code and the plus sign at the start, exactly as you'd dial it from outside your home country.
What details actually get sent before pickup?
Your driver's name, phone number and licence plate, sent before pickup by both SMS and email.
What if the SMS never arrives?
Check your email for the same details. If neither has arrived and pickup is approaching, contact us using the details in your booking confirmation.
What should I check before I fly to make sure I receive updates?
Confirm your roaming is enabled where your plan allows it, and check the phone number on your booking confirmation reads correctly with its country code.
Can I change the phone number on my booking after I've made it?
Contact us with your booking details and the corrected number, and we can update it before your driver details are sent.
