Why Two Addresses in the Same Area Can Have Different Prices
Updated 3 min read
It's a natural thing to notice: you check a price for one address, a friend checks for another a few streets over in what feels like the same neighbourhood, and the two numbers don't match. It can look inconsistent at first glance, but it isn't — it's the system working exactly as it's meant to.
This guide explains what actually drives the price, and why "same area" doesn't mean "same distance" once you look at the real route.

The price follows the address, not the area
A fixed price is calculated from the road distance and time between your specific pickup and drop-off addresses — not a general zone, suburb or postcode. Two homes that both fall under "Vasastan" or "Uppsala" can genuinely be a meaningfully different number of minutes and kilometres apart once you account for the actual roads a car has to take between them.
Why a suburb isn't a single distance
Neighbourhoods and towns aren't points — they're areas that can stretch several kilometres from one edge to another, and the road network rarely runs in a straight line through them. An address near the edge closest to Arlanda and one near the far edge of the same area are, quite reasonably, different trips, even though both addresses would describe themselves the same way in conversation.
One-way streets, how the road network is actually laid out, and which side of the area an address sits on all affect the real distance a driver covers — none of which is visible from an area name alone, but all of which shows up in the exact-address price.
What this means when you compare prices
If you're comparing a price you saw with someone else's, or with a figure from a previous trip, the only reliable comparison is address to address — not area to area. Enter the specific pickup and drop-off you're actually using, and the price you see is the real one for that exact route, calculated the same way every time.
The upside of address-based pricing
The same calculation that explains the difference also means you're never paying for a wider area's average — you're paying for your actual route, which can work in your favour just as easily as it explains why a neighbour's price looks different.

Questions people ask before booking
Why did my price differ from a friend's who lives nearby?
The price is calculated from the actual road distance and time between your exact addresses, not a shared area name — even addresses in the same suburb can be a genuinely different distance from Arlanda.
Is the price based on postcode or on the exact address?
The exact address. A postcode or area can cover several kilometres, and the price reflects the real route to your specific address within it.
Can I get a rough estimate without entering my exact address?
The homepage shows representative examples in the Standard category, but your real, final price only appears once you enter your exact pickup and drop-off.
Does the price change if I move a booking slightly, like to a neighbour's address?
It can, if the new address genuinely changes the road distance or time — the price is recalculated for the specific address on the booking.
Is this the same in every part of the service area?
Yes — the same address-based calculation applies across Arlanda, Stockholm and Uppsala; it isn't specific to any one neighbourhood.
